We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers who dedicate their time and commitment to us!

MAY- MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH. We have had a busy month raising awareness and aiming to reduce the stigma of mental health. We have been at Dunmail Park Shopping Centre, Distington Big Local (Summer fun and BBQ event) and Workington town centre.

APRIL- Firstly, all of our staff and members would like to thank all of the staff at Allerdale Borough Council and Workington Leisure Centre for hosting a fantastic night last Friday at the Mayor's Civic Dinner which we were grateful for being invited to. Secondly we would like to say that we are all so grateful that Celia Tibble, Mayor of Allerdale chose us as one of her charities to raise money for over the past year and has raied a total of £2536.82 for us! We really do appreciate this and we can promise that this funding will benefit the people of West Cumbria.

SEPTEMBER- Well that's the end of part of our TRY-Athlon project funded by Sport England. I'm sure everyone will agree that we have challenged our own abilities at the Leisure Centre and it’s benefited us all! Yesterday we had a celebration day at Clip 'n Climb Maryport.

A HUGE well done to everyone who took part and especially to those who were able to achieve Gold!🎖

AUGUST- CHARITY CHALLENGE 2017. We are so grateful that AMYA UK Mercy4Mankind chose us as one of their charities to support this year in their 33rd Charity Challenge here in the Lake District! It was a great day and very well organised.

Huge well done to everyone who took part; especially to Bryan, Les and 2 of our staff members Anmol and Courtney who completed the whole 13k.

MARCH-  Busy day today at the University of Cumbria! Massive thank you to the students who study working with children and young families, working with adults, and who study psychology for choosing us as their charity to raise money for. Mental health gets a lot of stigma, especially for younger people such as students so this was a great way to raise awareness! Thank you to everyone who donated totalling £103.00 this really does make a difference.

OCTOBER 10th - WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY. We had a productive day in Workington Town Centre, and Dunmail Park raising awareness of mental health. We talked to so many members of the public around issues and stigma associated with mental health.

NOVEMBER- ANTI-STIGMA CONFERENCE. 23rd November, Lakes College, 10am - 3.30pm

December- HUGE THANK YOU. We would like to say a huge thanks to Ellen Valley Riding Club for fundraising for ourselves and Carlisle Eden Mind. A total of £3500 was raised to be split between us.

Also a huge thank you to Jack and his family who made a donation to us in memory of his mum.

IT'S CHRISTMAS. Staff, volunteers and service users enjoyed the Christmas spirit as we attended 3 Christmas celebrations; our Maryport and Flimby service users had a fantastic 3 course dinner at the Lifeboat Inn Maryport, our Wigton service users celebrated at their local Methodist church with plenty of food and games to keep them merry! Finally, we also hosted a party at the Masonic Hall, Workington with a DJ and buffet.

OFFICE CLOSURE. I'm sure you will all agree we have had a great year and that all of our volunteers and staff deserve a holiday! The office will close on the 22nd December and re-open 2nd January. TIME TO TALK. Anmol and Courtney represented us at Moorclose Community Centre for Time to Talk Day.  They raised our profile, raised awareness of mental health and also provided information on our charity and services we provide.

We’re proud to be partnering with RED January this year, helping motivate people to get active every day in January to support their mental health.

RED January is now more inclusive than ever, focusing on getting active, your way. Whether that’s running 5k, walking to work a new way, a morning swim or just taking a bike for a spin - the choice is yours.

If you decide you want to fundraise for your local Mind this RED January, the proceeds raised will directly impact your local community, whilst giving you the opportunity to build a network of REDers nearby.

You will be able to register to take part with us directly when local Mind registration opens in November. More

information can be found at https://www.mind.org.uk/redjanuary

We’re looking forward to seeing where your RED January journey takes you.
